My new optimistic ritual is about as simple as it gets. However, I perform the ritual every day before I go to sleep, and now I go to bed HAPPY. I would like to share my ritual with you, in the hopes that it will improve your life! Let’s go:
My ritual has 2 parts, and it involves journals. So get out those writing instruments, because it’s a lot of writing! The results are worth it.
The first part of the ritual is goal visualization.
I have a really cool journal that says “Imagine” on it, where I write goals from 3 parts of my life: Physical/Health, Business/Career, and Peak Moments/Relationships. During my ritual, I simply flip through these 3 sections, and take the time to visualize EACH goal I have written down. Not just neutral visualization, but EMOTIONAL visualization. You gotta feel it!
I know it sounds like you’ve heard it before, and you probably have. But get this: I’ve known about goal visualization for years, but I only started applying it as a daily habit a week ago! It’s AMAZING!
The second part of my ritual is actually an add-on to something that I’ve always been doing. I have been doing daily recaps and grading for the past 2 years. It simply involves me writing down the date, giving myself a letter grade for the day, and writing down some key events/memorable moments from the day.
My newest addition is the GRATITUDE LIST.
Again, something that I’ve known about for years, but never really took the time to apply. That is, until I read “Happy for No Reason” by Marci Shimoff
Anyways, my ritual involves me writing down a list of 5 things that I am grateful for on that particular day.
Of course, I could write the same things down every day, like: Physical health, food, eyes, legs, vision, hearing, computers, etc. But the purpose is to come up with 5 unique things every day that you’re grateful for. It makes you think hard, and really helps your thinking/recollection skills. AND IT MAKES YOU HAPPY!
I’m telling you: This stuff works really well for me. And I’m sharing it, in hopes that you apply it, and have similar/better results. Please let me know if you have any suggestions to these rituals. I’m always looking to improve my optimism.
